why pick up trucks are a menace to society:

people in texas strap unwieldy items to their pickup trucks with what must be dental floss. we get hit by some "road debris", specifically sheet rock which seems to be the best kind of road debris to get hit by because it just broke apart on impact. There was only some cosmetic damage to the car, but it did set us back some time, because we filed a police report so that we can send it to the insurance company.

in short, texas is plum crazy.

oh and we also got lost so that a two and a half hour drive became a seven hour drive. oh well, we are all okay and we are now in erin's new apartment, which is very cute and in a really cool neighborhood. we set up our tent in the living room to make the empty rooms less empty.

so far we have done a very cursory exploration of sixth street, which apparently is where you want to be in austin. we went to a bacon themed restaurant. they had a lot of hot dogs and cocktails based around bacon-infused vodka and the kicker is chocolate covered bacon for dessert which conor just could not pass up. it pretty much tastes exactly how you would expect it to taste, so not very good.
